First I would like to introduce myself and let you know a few things about me. Hello! My name is Heidi! Nice to meet you world! At this moment I am a young single adult attending community college in the lovely state of Washington. I have plans to transfer to
BYU in Provo, Utah this winter where I will be majoring in European Studies and (probably) Socio-cultural Anthropology. What will I do when I graduate with these majors, you may ask? I do not really know. That idea has yet to be solidified. There are a few things I do know though, and they are that I love foreign languages and history, I want to travel the world, I love humanitarian aid and would like to help and serve those less fortunate people in various parts of the world, I want to be a wife and a mom and be able to (have time to) raise my children, and I want to have fun and do work that I enjoy, because life is too short to spend everyday hating the job that you do. If you could give me an idea of what career would best suit these things, let me know, because I'm still not sure. (Wow, this is getting long already). I belong to the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which I love! My religion and my faith are the main things that define my life and who I am. I love books, sunshine, flowers (carnations are my favorite), cute clothes, and going for walks. I am me.
Now, to explain this blog and its title. I'd never really considered writing a blog before, but in the last few months I got into reading several different blogs, particularly one called
Cardigans and Cookie Dough. The lovely girl who writes this blog posts pictures of cute outfits she puts together, cooking ideas, and thoughts and events from her life as a college student. The thing that strikes me about her blog is how happy she always sounds, and how everything she writes is always so upbeat and positive. And she and her blog are actually my inspiration for writing my own blog. Through reading her blog, and commenting on it and her answering my comments, she suggested to me that I write my own blog. So here I go! I also have been feeling a need for more positivity and optimism in my own life, so, as my blog description says, I will be trying to focus on the happy little things in life :)
Now the title. What are Pink Notes and Blue Notes you may ask? Well, as I said, I love books. A few years ago, my friend's mom gave me a book called The Icing on the Cake by Elodia Strain.

It is about this girl named Annabelle who is a food writer for a magazine in central California. She is a nice, sweet, kind girl who seems to be a magnet for mishaps and misunderstandings. Eventually she meets a guy named Isaac and they begin to fall in love, but despite how perfect they seem to be for each other, a few silly misunderstandings threaten to end her relationship with him. I won't tell you the ending, but I will tell you it is exciting and happy (and there's a sequel called Previously Engaged)! So in this book, Annabelle tells about how she met her best friend Carrie, who saved her from a fashion crisis (a run in her nylons) at a youth conference. That night, she went home, took out this pink diary she had, and wrote her first Pink Note about Carrie. So to explain, a pink note is what she writes when she meets someone who she feels is noteworthy, or who inspires her to be a better person. After writing that first Pink Note, she began to look more for the good in people, and notice people who she felt were particularly kind and inspiring. This was my inspiration for the title of my blog. I would like to learn better to look for the good in people and I would like to write about what I observe. As far as the Blue Notes go, basically, Annabelle's man, Isaac, was inspired by her, and decided to write his own Pink Notes, with her being his first, and fourth entry (commence "awww!"). However, as he says, "of course, pink is kind of girly, so I decided on blue." So, this is what I'm going to do: when I want to write a Note about a girl, it will be called a Pink Note. When it's about a boy, it will be a Blue Note. If I write about an organization, or just something that is not a person, it will be whichever color I feel like at the time :) So,
Pink Note #1
Name: Katri at
Cardigans and Cookie Dough
Why She's Noteworthy:
I don't really know her personally, but from reading her blog, she seems to be a very sweet, pretty, happy girl. She always writes happy things and seems very upbeat about life. She seems like someone who knows who she is and is happy to be her. She also has some great fashion/refashion ideas. I think she would make a very good friend. If she ever reads this, I hope this doesn't embarrass her :)
Pink Note #2
Name: The Icing on the Cake by Elodia Strain
Why It's Noteworthy:
This book is noteworthy because, first of all, it is a very fun, entertaining read, and second of all, it was my inspiration for the title of my blog for the reasons stated above.
Alright, sorry this was so long, but I enjoyed writing it and I hope you enjoy reading it!
